So, to answer all those Forever Clean 9 questions in one place – here is our best attempt to provide the answers (and if we’ve missed one, please let us know in the comments below).

These are based on both official Forever Living trainings and our own experience, both as distributors with Forever Living and also people who use and love these products.

For myself, I lost 4kg and dropped a trouser size on the Clean 9. It also formed the basis for developing a healthier lifestyle and I’ve gone on to regularly run 10k races, which is much easier (and better for your knees) when you don’t weigh so much!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is Clean 9?

The true cost of the Clean 9 programme is much less than you would think.

Typically, we find that people save more than £50 or £60 just by not consuming trendy coffees, alcohol and lunch time sandwiches.

Equally, the benefits of the Clean 9 are that afterwards you wont want to eat or drink these as much, so you’ll be saving for the weeks ahead too.

In the UK the net costs are about £5 per day – click Clean 9 UK to order.

In the US Clean 9 net costs are about $5 per day – click Clean 9 USA  to order.

You can also order Clean 9 Canada or purchase the Clean 9 in Ireland

However, the true cost is much less, and good health always pays back in terms of being able to earn an income.

How does the Clean 9 Work?

towie clean 9

Clean 9 Celebrities

Firstly, pick a nine day sequence when you don’t have any parties or celebrations!

The nine days is then split into two parts

– an initial two days when you consume the protein and nutrition shakes as a food replacement, Therm tablets to beat your tea and coffee cravings in a naturally inspired way, plus Garcinia to help beat the sweet-tooth carvings.

– followed by a further 7 days when you are allowed to eat a 600 calorie meal. However, if you are very active – a sports player or have an active job, such as gardening, then you might want to increase that to 1,000 calories. See below for more advice.

You might also like to follow these two stories Kelly’s Fresh Start with Clean 9 and Tina’s dramatic weight loss story.

No really, how does it work – scientifically

Okay, for the scientists… in the first two days we are living on a more or less liquid diet of high nutrition and low calories.

At the same time, we drink loads of Aloe Vera Gel to clean our system of toxins.

Now, Aloe Vera Gel has a history stretching back many thousands of years and has hundreds of studies – all of which show that high quality inner leaf gel is safe and effective in the vast majority of cases (exceptions include extremes – such as very heavy drug users – medical or recreational – who need to be more careful with the cleansing effect of the aloe vera).

In essence, the science to date explains it as follows; our fat cells become surrounded by toxins. These toxins come from our convenience or processed diets, toxins in the atmosphere, our homes, our cars and environment.

fitnw kelly - Clean 9 review before and after

Clean 9 – starting to see results

The 9 day cleanse works by stripping away those toxins such that the fat cells are then exposed and the body can now access this ‘food store’ for energy production (by converting to Glycogen etc…).

So, it seems that what we are really doing is losing toxins rather than fat cells.

The fat cells then get burnt up when we exercise (or exercise more) and over time – by following the Forever Forever F.I.T 1 follow on weight management programme.

Of course, whilst scientists and medics are still really only beginning to prove the effects of Aloe Vera, this hasn’t stopped people benefiting from it for many thousands of years.

Is the Clean 9 just a cleanse?

Strictly speaking, we are not allowed to use medical words to describe our products or the effects of the Clean 9 as it may accidentally suggest a medical context.

The word we are advised to use is ‘Clean’ or ‘Cleanse’.

The impact of our Aloe Vera is that it supports the healthy function of the body (liver, kidneys, skin and lungs) to do what it does anyway – which is absorb nutrition and get ride of waste. Think about it, your body is cleansing all day and everyday anyway, our high quality Aloe Vera and the Clean 9 programme simply helps that process which leads to great results.

Which is the best day to begin Clean 9?

We normally recommend starting on a Friday – where this is the last working day of your week.

So, Friday and Saturday are the initial two days when you rely on the shakes, Aloe Vera gel and supplements for your nutrition before starting normal meals on the third day – typically, Sunday.

When you go back to work on Monday, you’ll be feeling stronger and lighter and eating proper meals.

If you working week ends of a Sunday – then make that your first Clean 9 day etc…

How much weight will I lose with Clean 9?

Clean 9 Success Story

Clean 9 – success story

How much weight will you lose on Clean 9 is the question that everyone wants answered. And the truth is, that it depends!

For instance, I lost 4 KG (about 8.8lbs or pounds) and that is about average – although some people have lost a lot more.

More importantly though, you will lose inches – most people drop a dress or trouser size – as I did.

In fact, if you continue to use the follow on programme – Forever F.I.T 1 and Forever F.I.T. 2, then you can easily lose a second trouser or dress size and then you definitely need a new wardrobe.

But I don’t like exercise…!?!

Okay, we get this question a lot – can I do the Clean 9 and get amazing results without moving or doing any exercise? Probably no.

The level of exercise on the Clean 9 is very moderate – 30 minutes of moderate exercise – that would be a 15 minute walk to work and and 15 minute walk home.

It might even be just parking the car at the far end of the car park and walking to the office building.

Or you might just put on a dance video and job along gently for 30 minutes – or 15 mins in the morning and 15 in the afternoon.

Okay, you still don’t like exercise – I know – but you will only over come that exercise by taking small steps to more activity.

And, if you are looking to lose weight (rather than just a cleanse) then exercise and diet work TOGETHER.

So, please find a way to build moderate exercise into your day – it will make a huge difference to your results and you’ll find so much better for it too.

Go on – you know you can do it!

How to use clean 9 shake

Please follow this link to the Clean 9 Booklet for full details on how to use.

When you order your pack, a printed version of this booklet is included so that you can track your days, what you are eating and measure your results.

Taking the Aloe Vera Gel, Therm Tablets, Forever Lean and the Forever Lite Shake

Is Aloe drink taken on empty stomach? And how minutes before lunch?
Aloe Vera works better when taken on an empty stomach as it is absorbed more easily. When you are on the Clean 9 you either take Aloe Vera either on its own or just before the Forever Lite nutrition shake. So, timing isn’t really an issue as you are not taking at the same time as your meals (day 3 to 9).

When do I take Therm?
Take the supplements and aloe vera in order as listed in the clean 9 booklet. You take Therm after your Aloe Vera Gel. I don’t think you need to wait.

Can I add the Forever Lean to the Clean 9?
Yes, you can, but it won’t help much. 🙂 Forever Lean helps us process the fats that we are eating or about to eat. So, on the Clean 9, you will eat very lean 600 to 800 calorie meals and won’t be eating any particularly fatten meals – such as Christmas lunch! That is why Forever Lean is not a part of the Clean 9 – it really isn’t necessary – but is a very useful product if you do have some weddings to attend or Christmas meals to eat!

Can I use another weight plan meal shake?
So long as the shake you use have the same very high nutritional and protein content in a form that makes digestion and absorption easier, then yes okay. It would not be a good idea to use an inferior product. (NB. I don’t know of a better product than the Forever Lite Shake – so I’d suggest you stick to that).

Can I drink green, peppermint, almond or non decaffeinated tea during the 9 days?

If you feel it is necessary then yes, you can. However, both green tea and almond tea do contain some caffeine and the new Clean 9 (with the Therm tablets) does give you a boost with natural caffeine (Guarana) and a Green Tea extract already, so these teas probably won’t be necessary for the caffeine fix.

Ideal would be a lot of water or hot water with a slice of lemon. However, if you feel you have to have a hot drink then a green tea, almond tea, peppermint tea or decaf tea isn’t going to affect the outcome a great deal, so if it really helps you, then do it.

Can I eat carrots and other ‘free foods’ when on the clean 9?

No, carrots are not included in the ‘free foods’ list as they have a high GI (Glycemic Index) score. Essentially, a high GI means that the food has a high impact on your body’s blood sugar.

Foods you can eat vary from fruits such as apricots and apples to vegetables such as spinach and tomatoes.

We’ve found that soft fruits such as kiwi, raspberries and strawberries plus vegetables such as cucumber, sugar snap peas and tomatoes are the most popular.

A full list of ‘allowed’ free foods is on page 11 of the Clean 9 booklet.

Do people actually get results in just 9 days?

Yes they do. However, cheating and eating lots of cake or drinking coffee half way through usually slows the benefits. So, your results will depend on your desire to get the most out of it.

Information booklet

Will I get headaches on the clean 9

Probably. Essentially, the more cleansing that is going on, the greater the headache. So, oddly, headaches are a good sign.

To minimise the headaches, we strongly recommend coming off coffee and tea before you start (alcohol and cigarettes too if you drink and smoke) and begin with just one bottle of Aloe Vera Gel.

However, if you are a regular tea drinker – let’s say – and find the headaches too much – then do have one or two cups of tea – but try to limit them as much as possible.

Can I do the clean 9 when

…pregnant

Personally, I wouldn’t advice it. Not that I think there is any risk – it just doesn’t seem the right time to reduce your calorie intake when you are eating for two (or more).

…when breast feeding?

Again, unless you are a regular drinker of our Aloe Vera, then probably not, as suddenly drinking large quantities of aloe vera might not help your baby breast feed.

However it is important to ensure that you are receiving sufficient high quality nutrition for both yourself and your baby’s milk and aloe vera can significantly help with the absorption of nutrients and vitamins.

One option is to skip the first two days – most intensive days – although I would recommend starting with the aloe vera slowly and then follow Forever FIT 1 to gain better nutrition and absorption of nutrients while breast feeding – and then follow with the Clean 9 once the breast feeding is complete.

…can I do it twice?

Yes, although twice and certainly more than twice is not normally recommended and you may achieve better results by continuing with the Forever F.I.T. 1  and then FIT 2 programme.

…whilst training for a run or high energy sports activity?

With proper care, yes, although, I usually advice very active people to go straight to Fit 1.

If a sports person really does want the benefit of the cleanse, then they are advised to either skip the first two days, or split the programme into two parts of 4 days – followed by 2 days of normal eating (this might be 3,000+ calories for a Rugby player) followed by the second 5 days.

Alternatively, you can increase the number of shakes – add one per day for an extra 300 calories – or simply include a 600 calorie meal from day one.

If you have a particular question, please contact us for specific advice.

… as I am diabetic?

If someone is boarder line diabetic type 2, they might try to start at day 3. However, I think this assumes that you are already consuming Aloe Vera Gel and / or have your doctor’s advice. This is important because drinking Aloe could impact your medication and hence, this is why we always suggest following the programme under your doctors supervision so that they can track any changes needed for your medication.

We don’t advise someone with diabetes type 1 to follow our programme – unless they are determined to do so, in which case we would request a signed risk waiver.

Is there a minimum age for Clean 9

Yes – we recommend that you should be at least 16 years old.

If a child has weight issues then this needs to be tackled but it is likely that there is a psychological aspect to this and hence Clean 9 would not be appropriate.

I am on medication

If you are – or recently have been – on medication (other than over the counter pharmaceuticals) then we would not wish to give generic advice but ask you to speak to your doctor or supplier or if you don’t have a supplier then please contact us. .

We have had people, who were previously on medication, successfully complete our programme but it needs to be handled carefully and under medical supervision and with your doctor’s approval. As distributors of Forever Living, we are not qualified medically to give medical advice.

Before you begin?

We always recommend a bottle of Aloe Vera Gel to drink before beginning – it is a great way to acclimatise yourself to the Aloe.

Also, we find that the worse it tastes, the more cleansing your body has to do and therefore the more work the aloe will do (and benefit you will gain).

However, if you find the taste a little difficult to accept at the beginning, it is doubly important to prepare by consuming a bottle or so in the week in advance so that the cleansing effect can work more slowly through your body, and as it does, we have found that people start to accept and then like the taste!

I certainly know that I now crave the taste and calming sense of drinking the Aloe Vera – especially after a lot of exercise, long days or too much partying!

What happened to Nutri-Lean?

Nutri-lean was the original next step / follow on programme for Clean 9 or C9. It has now been replaced by the Forever FIT programme which consists of three parts C9 – to cleanse, FIT 1 – to build good habits / continue weight loss and FIT 2 – to build lean muscle.

The new FIT programme continues to use Garcina, Forever Ultra-Lite, Aloe Vera Gel but includes Therm and Pro-X energy bars instead of the Forever Lean. Forever Lean can still be purchased separately as an additional help if required.

What do you do after a Clean 9?

Some people stop – which is usually a mistake – and then have to follow up with a second clean 9 about 6 months later. Which is a shame!

The best next step is to move to the Forever FIT 1 – this will ensure you gain steady weight loss over time and for good. Remember, the clean 9 is principally about removing toxins and prepares the body for longer term weight loss (or weight gain in some cases too).

I have written an extra article all about how to continue after Clean 9 with the FIT 1 programme.

Hence, even if you are looking at a second Clean 9, then once finished, do continue with the Forever FIT and make the weight loss permanent.

Fit 15

If you find the jump from the 9 day Clean 9 programme to the 30 Fit 1 or Fit 2 programme, don’t worry – you can settle in the middle now and take the 15 day Fit 15.

I have a question about exercise – aren’t you supposed to exercise regularly as well? If so, how much exercise is recommended?

    Reply
    • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

Hi Susanne – yes, you are right – it is really important to keep up a minimum level of physical activity – such as walking for 20 minutes at a moderately brisk pace everyday plus a 5 minute walk earlier (or later) in the day.

The exercise doesn’t need to be heavy – but it does it be daily – and it will make a significant difference to weight loss and the benefits.

Of course, if you are already exercising heavily – such as training in the gym or walking for 2 hours plus or running 5k – then you should either increase your calories by adding an extra Ultra-Lite shake or get in touch so we can discuss how best to manage your personal clean 9 plan.

          Hi Ruby

          Okay – here some questions
          – are you following the plan (or having extra snacks)
          – are you drinking enough water?
          – are you doing the exercise as well – this is very important
          – have you measured your waist, thighs and hips – as this is a better indication than just weight (often scales vary)
          – are you measuring your weight at the same time each day?

If you are doing all of those – are you already pretty thin/ slim – so benefiting more from a cleanse rather than a weight loss?

My dear total how much calories we are getting or we suppose to take in 3-9 days ?
My 2nd question is what is only an apple be added to choclate shake. Bcz in recipies i can see many things to be added which i dont like. Lets say im making a shake wd one scope of shake+apple wdout skin+skimmed milk(zero fat) so these are total 277 cal n in the dinner i have to take 600 calories meal n 2 cups skimmed milk tea a day. So approx it will go to around 1000 calories are day which i calculate from the food.

Thats why i asked how many calories are supposed to he taken per day during c9. In the booklet shakes n meals also have different cal reaching around 1000 cal a day. Plz advise if my routine is ok.

Hi Masha – yes, you can use Royal Jelly with the Clean 9 – in fact, you can use any of our nutritional products with the Clean 9.

In regards to medication, it would be better not to take the painkiller to get the max benefits assuming it is a mild painkiller? However, if you are taking medication prescribed by a doctor, then it is wise to let your doctor know what you are doing in case he/she wants to adjust the dosage (often you’ll need less).

Hi I have finnished my 9 days of clean 9, can I carry on eating healthier meals with all the pills? Aloe vera jel? Basically have my 3 meals a day without the shakes, but with everything else?

    • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

      Hi Helena – that’s a good question.

Yes, you can carry on with the elements of the Clean 9 and drop others. So, you could continue with the Aloe Vera Gel, Garcinia, Therm and Fibre and drop the shake.

However, let’s look at what the Forever Ultra shake offers
      – it is a very high protein and nutritional source for low calories
      – the Aminotein helps the body use the protein and convert it to muscle
      – it is quick and convenient

If you aim is to get fit – ie. lose weight by eating better and doing more exercise (which is definitely the proven way to lose weight for the long term) then the shake can help you do this – as can the other elements too.

However, I also think it is more important for you to keep going at some level – with what ever mix of products suits you – than to stop all together.

Once you’ve completed the Clean 9 – you’ve created a base for longer term fitness, healthy eating and weight management – what ever you do, don’t stop now. 🙂

Is this normal? Im considering looking at buying some of the supplements that i used in the clean 9 to stop these feelings do you think that would help?? I can’t rally afford to do the next step program.

    Can you advise??
    Thanks in advance.

      Hi Ali

It might be a good thing.

If you are doing more exercise then your body will want more food / fuel.

However, if you are craving foods – so, sweets, chocolates, biscuits – then it might be your blood sugar levels.

Also, did you use the Bee Pollen (old version) or Therm (new version)?

Hi there, I was about to ask the same as Ali – I can ‘t afford to move on to the Fit 1, I finish today and have already started feeling tired! I’ve run out of the shake so grabbed some Complan from Boots for my last shake at lunchtime.
I’m also trying to get pregnant so am anxious that I don’t take anything that could compromise that. I was thinking of doing the 5:2 diet with the shakes/garcinia on the fast days.

You were really kind and sent me the pdf to the old Clean 9 booklet, is it possible to do the same for the fit 1 so that I can have an outline of it and try to adapt it?

Also would you say the garcinia and the bee pollen are fine to take for trying/getting pregnant? I have not taken the therm because I didn’t want to take guarana.

What is best for stabilising the blood sugar levels?

        thanks very much

    Hello Henny

    Couple of thoughts
    a) you probably can ‘afford’ FIT 1 – just need to have it explained. Firstly, I help my customer register direct with Forever Living so they buy with a 15% discount and get free delivery on their first order.
    b) the FIT 1 pack is cheaper than buying the individual products – so you save more money this way
    c) Because the FIT 1 lasts 30 days – and not 9 days – you have more shakes and protein bars which will replace more meals than the Clean 9.
    d) Also, because you are eating better (avoiding the coffee, chocolate, alcohol and eating fresher not pre-processed food – hopefully – then you should be saving a considerable amount on your weekly bills)

I calculate that the net cost of FIT 1 is about £1 per day. Get in touch if you want me to show you how.

Having said that, the garcinia is important for stabilising blood sugar and the bee pollen for energy. Remember the shakes replace a meal – so it is just about diverting your spend from Sainsbury’s to an alternative.

Just finished the cleanse 9 and lost 6lb and 11 inches. Would of liked to have lost more. Can I still carry on with the shakes and tablets for a few more days?

    Reply

Hi Elaine – that is a really good result.

Yes, absolutely, the longer you keep going with the shake, tablets and aloe vera – plus exercise and eating well, the more weight you will lose.

Doctors tell us that our bodies can lose a max of 2kg (4lbs) of fat per week – so locking in your weight loss as fat loss is important and only achieved by keeping on going.

Essentially, at this stage you should be following the FIT 1 routine – and not the two day farce at the beginning of the Clean 9.

Yes you can have carrots but they form part of your 600 calories (they are not on the ‘free’ food list).

You can eat anything you like with the 600 calories but often chicken is leaner than say lamb – so fewer calories

Is there any food I cannot eat as part of the 600 cals meal or is everything ok? I had 4oz salmon the days 3 and 4, a sweet potato with tuna and spinach days 5 and 6. I’m running out of veggie ideas.

    Reply
    • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

Hi Destiny – yes, there is no reason not to use the clean 9 before pregnancy and once you are used to the Aloe Vera gel it can really help improve the absorption of good nutrition during pregnancy as well as providing Folic Acid and Vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C and E and Niacin plus nearly all the essential amino acids and much more.

We simply recommend people don’t start with Aloe Vera and the Clean 9 when already pregnant because miscarriages do occur for all sorts of reasons and we don’t want there to be any possibility of linking it to our product.

Also does the 600calorie meals only include the free foods? or are you aloud the free foods at any point in the day and the 600 calorie meals can include anything? I’m on day 6 only been drinking water, been having loads of it too, i never used to work out till the day before i started this i am pushing myself as i would love to see a great result but at the moment i can’t see a difference although i have decided that day 10 will be my weigh in, if i’ve not done well could it be down to not having the shakes and if so why?

        Reply
        • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

Hi Shannon – yes, the shakes are important – they contain a lot of nutrition and protein – if you are not taking them, then you need to replace the same level of protein and nutrition for the same number of calories.

What are you mixing the shake with? Often it is the type of milk, soya, almond, hazelnut milk that is the issue. You can even use water if you prefer.

No, the 600 calorie meal doesn’t include the free foods – so long as you eat them in moderation and you eat free foods (low GI – so no carrots).

Hi i am going onto day three of my clean 9 and i am getting really bad pains in my upper abdomen due to a history of stomach ulcers well as in my back, these pains have intensified after taking the clean 9 and i wanted to know if i can take any pain killers for it? Also can i distribute my 600 calories throughout the day?

    Reply
    • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

      Hi Wasim

Are you on medication? If so, please let me know – or phone the person who sold you the box as that would impact on any advice.

However, that aside, it sounds like the aloe vera may simply be helping your body to detoxify – albeit, that given your history you might want to slow down a little.

One solution is to simply drink more water – have you been drinking 8 large glasses? Often we under estimate how much water this is – but it helps the body and kidneys etc if we drink lots of water.

Yes, you can distribute the 600 calories across the day – although, I usually advise men to eat 800 calories.

Lastly, if it would help, you can always skip a day – so go back to a normal diet day and then continue on from there on the following day. It’s not ideal, but without knowing you or your situation it sounds like the aloe vera and Clean 9 are doing their job anyway?

One last thing – it would be a good idea to phone the person who sold you the box – just so you can discuss anything that might be missed here.

Hi Kemi – ‘non exclusive breastfeeding’ – as in both breastfeeding and feeding solids?

Well, what we say about breastfeeding applies – there is a chance that your baby may get colic, obviously, the less you breastfeed the lower the chance.

Secondly, what is the quality of your overall nutrition? If you are eating really well, then that is passed through your milk. If haven’t eaten really well, then may be wait just a little longer?

I’d suggest you give me a call to discuss or speak to someone experienced with Clean 9 and the FIT programme to discuss your circumstances.

Okay, thanks for the extra info.

The closer you can follow the programme, the better the benefits you’ll notice.

In regards to your particular situation, this is something that you could discuss with your distributor who sold you the box and / or your doctor.

It sounds, however, like you can lose weight but just have to work harder to achieve it? If so, you’re not alone and I’d suggest that you continue with Fit 1 and and Fit 2 to really make that weight loss permanent.

If you don’t have a distributor or your distributor can’t really advice / help you – then get in touch and if you order your FIT boxes through myself or the links here, then I’d be happy to advice you.

Lastly, I normally register my clients for FIT 1 – so that they get 15% discount and free delivery too.

Or m just wasting the product? Other than this i take tea once a day with milk n brown sugar, i cant start my day otherwise, thrn if i get very hungry or get bad cravings, i take one or two bites of anything that i get at that time, like a biscuit or sandwich etc. I dont eat stomach full but just to kill the xraving.

      Hello Amreenali

It sounds like the person selling the box to you isn’t giving you sufficient advice.

      My thoughts are these
      – I advise men to add an extra 200 calories to their daily diet (days 3 to 9)
      – if you are ‘active’ – say, working on a building site or plumbing or something like that, then you need to add extra calories to your diet on all day – how much depends on what you are doing – hence, you really need to discuss this with your seller
      – eating biscuits or sandwiches – especially on days 1 and 2 – will mess up the benefits. However, if you are not eating sufficient calories for your build / level of activity – it will be hard to avoid this and may explain why you haven’t had results
      – taking tea with sugar first thing in the morning sounds like your sugar levels need a boost to get going – the garcinia should help you with this – and taking more garcina could be the best way through this
      – you could just follow the Fit 1 programme – which runs for 30 days – and aim to lose weight more gradually

      Hope this helps

    • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

      Hi Maureen

      I don’t know what our Fitness products cost in Nigeria – but here is what I suggest you do;

Count how much you spent last month on the following
      – your trips to the supermarket / butchers / bakers etc – work out how much was for you (ie. not the family) you can save 25% of this whilst on FIT 1
      – your trips on nights out – the cost of drinks, dinner, snacks (eg. popcorn and drinks at the cinema)
      – any trips to coffee shops or tea shops
      – the cost of lunch (if you work outside of home)
      – any food or drink ‘treats’ you pay for

Then, take this cost from the cost of the FIT 1 – remember, to take off the cost of a month’s worth of spending.

Now you have a monthly net cost – divide that by 30 days – and you arrive at the real cost of FIT 1.

In the UK – this normally works out to be about £1 per day.

Is your health and fitness worth £1 per day?

4 bottles of aloe vera gel
1 month’s supply of forever lit

If you really want to get going, then I suggest purchasing an extra bottle of aloe vera and gently drink about 30mls per day for 5 days building up to 60mls for an extra two days.

Then, when you begin the clean 9, it shouldn’t be such a surprise for your baby.

Hello, just wondered what the need is for the fibre sticks and whether or not the cleanse would work without them?
    Thanks.

    • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

      Hi Sarah

The Fibre was added to the new Clean 9 and people have had great results with that.

I think there are a couple of reasons for the Fibre
      – firstly, we are often severely depleted in fibre
      – fibre helps bind and remove – so helps the cleanse process – which is also why they are taken mid morning
      – lastly, fibre helps us feel full, so we don’t crave extra food

Can you remove the fibre – yes, but you might as well give yourself the best chance of the best results.

    Hi Neil.
I am on day 4 of clean and it is going okay, but I struggle to fit everything in because I feel full! I struggled to finish my 600 calorie meal last night. I just wondered if that happens again can I miss the shake or eat less in the meal? I was actually surprised how much 600 calories was! I just don’t want to force everything in. What do you suggest?
    Thank you!

    Reply
    • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

Hi Gemma – I’d suggest eating the 600 calories – because, over all you are only consuming 1,000 calories per day and that really isn’t very much.

However, the amount of calories you require depend on age, weight and male / female plus how active you are.

Take a look here and enter in your data http://lewis.myforever.biz/foreverfit/bmr-and-amr.html.

As a suggestion, I’d say, if you don’t feel like your 600 calorie meal
      1. Increase your activity levels / exercise – this will make you hungry
      2. Take an extra Forever Lite shake plus soya, almond or rice milk etc… and have a smaller meal instead.

Hope this helps – if you post your weight, age, activity levels – then I can be more precise about the calories that you need.

The magic is in keeping on keeping on.

The more you follow the plan, the better you’ll do – but we are all allowed ‘off’ days.

Just prepare to continue the Clean 9 with either the FIT 1 or just (as a minimum) the aloe and Forever Lite – whilst following the FIT1 programme.

Hi! I’m on day 3 and feel fantastic! afterwards if I were to just carry on with the shake and aloe vera – how often would i take it. I know your supposed to take 1ml = 1kg of body weight. Would you have the shake and aloe for breakfast and then carry on healthy eating and excerise in the day and then aloe at night or what 🙂 Thanks

    Reply
    • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

Hi Nikki – yes, pretty much – the aloe vera and the shake are the core ingredients, although I would also advise the Garcinia as that helps our bodies regulate blood sugar levels and burn existing fat.

You can pretty much follow the FIT 1 programme with these three items – the key being that you take the shake instead of a meal – usually lunch – if your goal is to lose weight – but add a shake to all three meals if you are seeking to build muscle (and are doing the workouts to go with it).

Are you based in New Zealand? If so, then the easiest way to get these three products is to register with Forever and order them directly – you also get a discount this way too. If I can help you with this – please contact me here http://www.fitnw.com/contact/

    Hello

I am really interested in doing the clean 9 cleanse but I am currently on a weight training programme, so am afraid that the cleanse will mean I take enough calories for my body to recover post training. What’s the best way to go about it?

    Many thanks

      Hi Ashley

That’s a good question. I weight training programme will have been devised to help you add muscle. To add muscle you do need to have a higher intake of calories.

My question for you would be – why do you want to do the Clean 9? Is it to lose weight or help improve the quality of the calories you are taking or to re-boot the immune system or something similar?

The reason for asking is that it might be more suitable for you to go straight to FIT 1 – skipping the Clean 9, or alternatively, we can adapt the Clean 9 to make it fit your calorie needs.

Let me know and I’ll see if we can help further – or contact me directly.

        Hi Neil
Thanks for your reply! My main aim on the programme is to lose body fat whilst increasing muscle. The clean 9 appealed in that it looks like it can help to reboot my immune system but also boost some fat loss.

Would it be beneficial to me to maybe just add an intake of aloe Vera to my current programme?

        Let me know your thoughts.

          Hi Ashley

Thanks – I guess that depends on what your current programme currently consists of?

Certainly, I’d suggest adding Aloe Vera – but if you want to lose body fat too, then I think the Garcinia will be key.

Equally, to add lean muscle you’ll need to either be doing (or working up to) resistance training. In which case a protein / nutrition shake would be important too. You may already have a version of this – but if not, then the Forever Ultra Lite has the benefit of including aminotein which helps our bodies absorb the extra protein.

The Therm will help too if you are getting tired / fatigued and as a way to cut down on coffee/ teas.

Lastly, the Fibre has a role in helping to detox too.

You could do the Clean 9 – but if already pretty fit – then I’d suggest you jump to FIT 2 – or possibly, take the Clean 9 and adapt the programme to fit your exercise regime. I can help you do this – just get in touch here. http://www.fitnw.com/contact/

    Hi Neil,

Ive started the C9 today and have to say my first day isn’t as bad as i thought it was going to be, the only thing i don’t like is the ultra lite shakes but i will soldier through with these.
On the back of the packet for the Forever Shakes it states that this can be mixed with skimmed milk, however in the booklet it advised to keep clear of cows milk. I have an allergy to coconut & almond so cannot use this milk and Soya is not a nice taste at all.

Can i use skimmed milk or do i have to continue to mix with water?

    Thanks
    Sam

    Reply
    • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

Hi Sam – yes, you can mix the shake with whatever you like. The reason we normally recommend not to use milk is because the shake is Whey free (ie. milk product free) and most people find a benefit from a break with milk.

However, at the end of the day, do what fits you / your body best.

Hi Rita – yes, the FIT 1 is a 30 day programme – so it is cheaper per day than the 9 day Clean 9.

We mainly use Clean 9 to kickstart health and then follow on with the FIT 1 – however, is you are already quite active or have been drinking aloe vera for a while, then you can go straight to FIT 1 if you wish.

Hi Tracey – yes, it will. The programme asks you to do 30 minutes of exercise – such as walking to the shops or to work – and 5 minutes of stretches.

Perhaps swap the lift for the stairs? Or, if at home, just spend 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the evening walking up and down the stairs. Start steadily and keep it moderate – but even a small amount of exercise will make a big difference.

Hi Hannah – yes, in essence, you can switch things around. The key thing is to take your Aloe Vera on a empty stomach – so at least 30 minutes before solid food – hence, it is fine when you take a shake but if you have porridge, then just make sure you take the Aloe first thing – so you have time.

Also, as a tennis coach, have you been advised to lift your calories on busy days? I hope so, other wise you may be fasting too quickly.

Clean 9 – a kick-start / 9 day cleanse – for people looking to ‘get going’ with weight loss, better health and to start exercising
Fit 1 – a 30 day programme of rising levels of exercise and better nutrition, all helping to deliver weight loss or just better health and toning (if already fit)
Fit 2 – a 30 day programme of raised exercise and resistance training to help you build lean muscle.

The other option is to use a different plan where you just aclimatise to the aloe vera first and then go onto the Clean 9.

The new clean 9 does not state to take the aloe 20mins after the tablets and I never realised this until now. I always took them all at the same time, how would this affect my results? and also I never used all my fibre sachets as I didnt realise they were essential, would this affect my results? I am only a UK size 10 and 9st 6lb so I dont know if I would have got any better results but I just feel like I havent had the same results as everyone else.

I am on day 3 of the Clean 9 programme and feeling good energy-wise and not hungry at all. Only negative I am experiencing is a bit of bloating, trapped wind and general stomach ‘discomfort’ throughout the day. The discomfort started yesterday and same again today. I have been following the diet to the letter! I am an IBS sufferer and sugars / sweeteners in particular have caused me problems in the past and so am wondering if the Ultra Lite shakes are disagreeing with me or if this is a normal part of the detox / diet and should improve with time? Whilst I am very motivated, one of the main reasons I am doing the diet is to improve my IBS symptoms so feel my will power may wane if I continue to feel uncomfortable. I wondered if there are any alternatives to the shakes (such as healthy 200 calorie meals or similar) instead? Would be grateful for your thoughts!

    Many thanks

Hi Katherine – your experience is similar / common amongst non-IBS sufferers – so, it may just be the cleanse process working through.

However, it is important to reach a point of comfort for yourself, in which case, try switching the shake for a meal. The meal will need to be high in protein – to mirror the protein value of the shake and also any milk / soya milk / almond milk etc… that you have added.

I would have thought your best meal would be green leaf vegetables such as Kale – lightly steamed with olive oil and tomato.

Hi Kamelarl – think of Aloe Vera as a plant juice as you think of orange juice as a fruit juice – so, does orange juice affect pregnancy? No, and not should aloe vera.

The nutrition in the shake and fibre are natural and the Therm is a natural extract as is the Garcinia – so there is no reason for concern – these are not magic nor are they medication.

I think you will be okay eating strawberries, but the closer you follow the plan, the better results you’ll get.

Belly fat is probably a result of too much sugar or refined food in your diet – the Clean 9 and Fit 1 will help you sort out those sugar cravings and help you to healthier eating.

    Reply

Hi George – taking lots of aloe (as you do on the Clean 9) can have a dramatic impact on the absorption of medicines – so, it may be ‘fine’ but your does would change (probably drop) quite a bit. Hence, you really would need to get medical advice.

In many cases, where someone takes a regular medical drug, it is better to start on the FIT 1 – as the amount of aloe you drink is less and therefore the impact is more gradual – this allows more time to adjust (with your doctor) your medicines to fit.

    Hello Neil,
Just started the C9 program and have lost about 3 kg at the start of day 3. However I saw the use of skim milk of the shake pack so I mixed the shake with a spoonful of Marvel Dried Skimmed Powder on the day 2, in fact instantly felt a release of energy but on looking closer to the label, its like I am not really sure what calories that might contain and I have since stopped. What quantity of the Dried skimmed powder can one add without compromising potency. or should one just avoid it and manage being weak all the time.

    Reply
    • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

Hi Sola – you can mix the shake with anything – water, skimmed milk, almond milk, soya milk, rice milk etc…

The assumption is that the shake + liquid = about 300 calories – so if you use water, then you need more calories as the shake is about 150 calories per scoop – so check the calorie value of the milk powder to work it out.

    Hi Neil,

I am looking at doing the cleanse 9, but have difficulty swallowing pills. I normally just chew my pills or put power into a drink. Would this be okay to do? If not would it effect the plan if you didn’t take the tablets?

    Reply
    • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

Hi Andy – well, you’ll be fine with the aloe, shake and the fibre – but you’ll have to chew the Garcinia and Therm. I don’t think they’ll taste good, but if you prefer to do it this way, then the results won’t be affected.

Alternatively, if you are strong willed (ie. can get through caffeine withdrawal and sugar cravings without problem) then you could just order the aloe, shake and fibre. I would’t recommend it to most people though.

      Hope this helps

Hi Andy – I think it would be better to chew the tablets or add to the shake / drink than not take them. There may be some loss of effectiveness around the absorption of the Garcinia, but I don’t think it would be hugely significant.

      Hi Jennifer

Are you drinking ‘at least’ 8 glasses of water per day?

If you are, then don’t worry – aloe helps the body do what the body needs to do – so, it adapts to circumstances – so don’t worry if your experience isn’t exactly like other people’s – it just means your body needed something different.

Can I continue till day 9 without it? since I was expected to finish it in the space of 9 days. I also see FIT 1 as expensive for me to follow up immediately, what do I do to make sure I do not add any more weight (If possible lose more) until I am ready/ Thanks.

      Hi Emmanoella

The aloe is pretty key – so it is important to get some more. Either way, keep doing the exercise and keep drinking the water.

Lastly, the Fit 1 is actually very cheap. Here in the UK it works out at about £1 per month when you register and buy with a discount – because you get 30 meals and about 20 snacks included in your box – so think how much you’ll save on your monthly food bill.

    Neil,

Yes, I am drinking over the 8 glasses and keeping a record to make sure I am following the plan correctly. I have a cross trainer at home and am using that every morning. I also walk around 2 miles a day so the excercise part is covered too. I measured today on day 3 and no measurement changes but I had lost just under 2 kg. I will continue to the end the plan as I am keen to fully detox. I guess I’m lucky and just don’t have as many toxins to get rid of as I thought.

Hey Jennifer – yes, it sounds like you are doing everything right.

First time on the Clean 9 I lost 4kg and was moderately fit. Second time, about 2 years later, I was running 10ks regularly and at the top end of fitness – that time I just lost 2kg – but I did still lose a belt size, which was interesting.

So, don’t forget the measurements too – they are, in many ways, more valid than weight – not least because if you build muscle in exchange for fat, you’ll weigh more (but look better).!

Also, make sure you measure weight at the same time each day – first thing in the morning is pretty good – not least because our body weight can fluctuate 2kgs with more or less water and depending on when we last went to the toilet! And, last but not least, weighing scales vary in their accuracy and can be affected by the floor surface. So, I watch my belt notches as the best indication of where I’m at.

Not advisable Janet for lots of reasons
      – firstly, you are not getting enough calories to feed yourself and your baby
      – secondly, if you haven’t drunk aloe before it might give your baby colic when you drink a whole bottle in the first two days

If that is too much to lay out, I can still help you achieve the 15% discount and free first order delivery if you order £100 worth – in which case, my recommendation would be the Aloe Vera Gel, Forever Lite Shakes and Garcinia. Although I do think the that Therm and the protein bars play a very important role too – because as you start to walk more / exercise more, you will need to eat better food and if you don’t there is a risk that you’ll head for the biscuit cupboard – I know I do if I don’t have the right things to hand!

Hi Anna – if you swap skimmed milk for water (300cl) that is going to reduce the calories by about 110 – so, as you have two shakes per day – just have a third shake – or, as you say, add the calories (200) to your evening meal (which you can also split across lunch and dinner – but keep to the calories size).

No Gemma – very fit people will get different results. I don’t normally advise fit or high exercising people to do Clean 9 – or at least, not the published programme. Fit people simply need to eat many more calories and hence the programme needs to be adapted – depending on their reasons for doing it, of course.

Hello Gemma – when you buy the Clean 9 you should also get a mentor who can answer all your questions – but I’ll have a quick go here anyway
      – focus on inches not pounds / kilis
      – measure yourself first thing in the morning – after going to the toilet
      – yes, if you follow the plan in the booklet (and drink the 8 minimum glasses of water plus 30 mins of moderate exercise) it will help sort out bathroom trips.
      – it is a good idea to start drinking a bottle of aloe before you start the Clean 9 – to ease yourself in
      – stop or slow down on coffee, tea, alchohol, cakes, biscuits etc… 7 days before
      – lastly, don’t worry, enjoy the plan – a good mental attitude makes a big difference

If you are already very active or doing a good amount of daily physical exercise, I would recommend this route. Or if you want to start slowly because of a medical history etc…

However, if not, then I think the Clean 9 is the best way to prepare yourself for longer term weight loss and energy gain (so that you feel comfortable with more exercise – and can enjoy it).

Very informative site 🙂 – one quick question, If i am taking folic acid already (recommended dose) should i stop whilst doing the C9 as the aloe contains it already or is the amount in the aloe not enough?

    many thanks

Hi Lou – you can keep taking the folic acid – no problem. Remember, Clean 9 is a nutritional programme it is not medicine.

Essentially, yes, but you want as few toxins in the body as possible. So, plain water is best.

Is there any negative effect on not leaving a 20minute gap betwene taking the garcinia, therm and aloe gel. I always take them together. Will this affect the results

    Reply
    • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

Yes and no Jess – if you are on a liquid meal, then it doesn’t particularly matter (first few days of Clean 9).

However, as you transition back to solid food / meals (latter days of Clean 9 and Fit), then the 20 minute gap (or even a 5 minute gap) will simply give the Garcinia more time to get to work.

Hi Neil, and thank you for your very informative website.

Is there any reason not to do the c9 cleanse twice in short succession? I got great results first time around but I still have half my weight to shift and don’t feel that fit1 is for me.

    Thanks in advance.

    Reply
    • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

Yes Kate – there is a very good reason. You don’t lose much fat during Clean 9 – mainly toxins and water. The Clean 9 prepares your body for getting fit and losing weight – but there isn’t any value in doing it twice in succession.

The long term weight loss takes place on Fit 1 – so, Clean 9 is the best way to prepare for this – but ultimately, getting onto Fit 1 is going to make the long term difference.

    Hey.
I’m about to start day 5 of clean 9, I’ve been following the plan and doing everything I need to do, no cheating. However I’m struggling- constipation. I was told that my system would be flushed out….but I’ve only had 1 small flushing in 4 days. My system is normally slow, 2 days to pass food, but I’m wondering if I can help myself in any way as I’m worried i won’t achieve any results. Right now there is no change in measurements but lost 1 kilo. I’m so disheartened as it seems all my effort is for nothing. Any advice would be great.

    • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

Hi Mich – firstly, are you measuring your waist? That is the best way to assess success (not weight – read this article for why http://www.fitnw.com/what-happens-if-you-dont-lose-weight-on-clean-9/)

Secondly, are you drinking enough water and doing enough exercise? You can always increase these if that helps?

Thirdly, keep going – this is a natural product that puts nutrition back into your body. Just think – how many years did it take to get to your current condition/ state? Okay, now, how many days are you willing to give your body to adjust? Will you give yourself 69 days to do the Fit programme?

      >> yes, it is okay, but you lose the calorific value of the soya milk – so, you need to have an extra shake on days 1 to 2 or raise your 600 / 800 calorie meal on days 3 to 9

I would also like the prescriptions for taking the bee pollen and garcinia . a friend gave me a new pack that she’s had with her for a while, she misplaced the booklet so i dont v any kind of guideline to start. 5. Also if i were to walk as an exercise routine (too busy at work for the gym), how many minutes would i av to walk for? 6. I also hope the diet wont affect my performance at work like with the headaches, tummyaches and stuff. 7. Also, what can i mix with the aloe if it gets too bitter. I live in nigeria so things like berry nectar and cranberry flavoured drinks are hard to find. Is there something common or natural that i can mix it with? Is skimmed milk also okay with the shake? Lastly can i wear a tummy girdle during the period of the cleanse? i just really wanna get this right

Hi Pantea – this is where you need your distributor to help – it really depends on why you don’t like it and how best to continue. Normally, I recommend reducing the amount of aloe – or drinking a bottle for a week prior to starting the Clean 9 – especially if you have a lot of toxins or have not been eating very well. However, it is hard to give general advice, so do ask your distributor for help.

Hi Zahra – smoking and coffee are bad for you and ideally you won’t do these things during the Clean 9. However, the programme is designed to improve (not perfect) things – so, if you can cut down your coffee and reduce your smoking that will be an improvement.

I do find that smokers find the taste of the aloe difficult – but when you take the aloe, you will have less desire to smoke.

So, go for it, do the best you can.

Hi Tomisin – you should stop the programme and take small sips of the aloe each day until your body starts to cleanse. It is the toxins that react to aloe vera – so probably you’ve been eating badly, smoking, drinking, previously on medication etc…. In any of these situations you are best advised to start very slowly with the aloe until your body is cleaner and better able to handle the clean 9 programme.

    2. The 600 calories – could this be anything? I’m due to attend a birthday meal at wagamamas – found something on the menu under 600 cals so will this be ok?

    3. Should the pills/aloe be taken in any order for next results? I usually take them all at once! And do I then need to wait to have food?

4 am I ok to split the 600 calories throughout the day? And do the free foods count as part of that calorie intake?

It is best not to run Clean 9 back to back as we shouldn’t be on a constant cleanse, but move to a Fit 1 approach.

Also, what are you trying to achieve? And, what has happened since your first Clean 9?

Remember that during Clean 9 you lose water and toxins and maybe a couple of kg of fat – so in total, it might be 4kg.

On the Fit 1 – you can expect to lose 2kg per week – and it is a 30 day programme – so that’s about 8kg – if you keep to the nutrition and maintain the exercise.

      Hi Tintswi

Ideally you continue straight onto Fit 1, yes. This is because the Clean 9 is a preparation for Fit 1.

However, life is life and it isn’t always possible. If you are in this situation then continue with the aloe vera as the absolute minimum and add the shake and / or Garcinia if you can.

This means that when you are ready, then you won’t find it as abrupt nor particularly difficult. I’d also encourage you to start exercising more – walking to work, brisk walking, following dance videos, swimming or joining a moderate / beginners exercise class are all good and valid steps.

Yes, we can register you in South Africa for clean 9 / Fit 1 – Fit 2 discounts. I’ll drop you a separate email.

I’ve been having raspberries, strawberries and sugar snap peas at lunch time, as I work in an office, the routine of having lunch is important for me. Does a packet of each of the above at lunch time only have an effect? I’m on day 2 and would hate to think I’ve wasted my money through a vague description of “moderation” in the booklet, which I’m sure will differ from one person to the next. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

Also, if I haven’t ruined it by this, may I please order the next stage?

Hi Louise – thanks for your message. Yes, you are right, it is a bit vague and deliberately so. 🙂

There are two reasons for this – firstly, different people start at differnt points – so, our first aim is to help some one start to eat better and raise exercise levels a bit and gain more control (ie. beat the sugar, drinking, coffee etc… cravings). Ideally, we would answer this question better if we knew your individual circumstances. A good example is a guuy who used to go to the pub and drink three pints per night – on the Clean 9 and Fit 1 we didn’t ask him to stop altogether, but helped him choose a glass of red wine instead. This meant he could still go to the pub and meet friends – and could still drink – but he lost lots of weight, found more energy and felt better too because he had shifted his eating / drinking habits for the better, whilst still drinking wine. So, our goal is improvement not perfection – so, that largely depends on who you are.

Secondly, the Clean 9 / Fit 1 / Fit 2 programme is one that delivers best results when we approach it as a one step at a time over a long time vs a miracle cure.

There is a tendancy for people to seek a miracle or instant cure for weight or health issues that have built up over many months and years. We really do want to help people through this illusion – so, there is no one thing that will ruin the results of your clean / Fit programme – except giving up! So, if you cheat a little, eat a bit more than you should or have cup of coffee, that’s all okay so long as you keep moving steadily to your goal.

You’ll see from this thread that I am frequently asked if missing a therm tablet or a garcinia tablet or taking the garcinia after lunch etc… is going to ruin the results. My answer is nearly always the same – the only thing that will ruin your results is giving up. No matter what happens, we always end up slipping off the plan and we need – with encoragement and trust in ourselves – to just keep putting ourselves back on the plan. It is going to happen – it happens to me and everone – the only choice is, do we get back on the plan or give up. That’s why getting your supplier to support you is really important. We run a group too for our clients as that gives them extra confidence and an opportunity to share experiences.

Hope that helps – and yes, of course, I’ll drop you a line about the Fit 1 and the 15% discount.

      Best regards

    Hi Neil,
day 1 and 2 were really good, i had lots of water and all and did some vigorous exercise. I checked my weight on day 3 morning and i saw that i had lost 3 kg. I did 45 mins jogging/walking in d morning and burnt about 130 calories and then in the even i did a 1 hour rigorous exercise at the gym using the treadmill, stepper, cycler and then some stomach exercise i burnt an additional 100 calories, this is asides from the regular movement during d day afterwards i felt very very very faint, even walking seemed like a herculean task so i had some white rice. i did not measure the calories but i believe it was more than 600 calories. im so scared to even check my weight. now my question is, have i sabotaged the program? do i need to start afresh? do i continue? Today is day 4, i was thinking of staying of food completely, not even d fibre or shake, just d tablet and aloe so i can flush out my system completely to make up for d calories consumed yesterday. i have already done some exercise this morning and i lost 150 calories. please i need an urgent response as i am really really upset with myself.

Hi Zo – yes, I am not surprised – you are not meant to do more than 30 minutes moderate exercise – a brisk walk – on days 1 and 2 – and if you do more, then you need to adjust your calories.

Just go back to following the plan – don’t seek perfection, just seek improvement.

Hi Zo – yes, green tea is fine – it contains small amounts of caffeine – so the less the better and you are getting caffeine from the Therm tablet anyway – but it really isn’t much of an issue.

A sale rep in my country (Jordan) says that it is highly recommend that women start the product just after they finish their periods. Is that evidence -based? I assume it should not matter as hormonal changes and fluids retention are cyclic ! What you think?

Hi Saba – I am not aware of any evidence for this claim. It might make sense from a comfort point of view – in that the first two days are a version of fasting and that would probably be more comfortable after the period has finished.

I’m currently on Day 3 and I’m just a bit confused about how much Aloe Vera to be taking daily at this point. I had 2 litres to start with and completed the 32oz in the first 2 days. Looking ahead, Aloe Vera gel is mentioned at all three meals, but in small print for Lunch and Dinner. Do I need to continue with 4oz x 3 time a day or just 4oz once a day when I want? 2 litres won’t be enough if I’m taking 12oz each day until the end. Thank you!

Hi Adam – sounds like you are in the USA if you are measuring in oz 🙂

So – do you have a booklet which explains? If not, you can download the metric booklet from the link on this page.

However, rule of thumb – drink one bottle of aloe vera in the first two days – the second bottle of aloe vera is consumed in the following 7 days.

The key with the Clean 9 and Fit 1/ Fit 2 programme is to keep on going – we all fall off the plan from time to time, but most important is to get back on the plan.

on day 1 of C9. Can I swap lunch and dinner around on day 1 & 2 (ie have the forever lite ultra shake for dinner) – if so should I also have forever therm tablet then as well? Secondly if i am out in a coffee shop with friends would it be better to have black decaf coffee (my preference) or green tea as I looked up cafine is less in decaf coffee. At home I will have decaf tea (no milk))

    Many thanks Janis

      Hi Janis

Yes, you can swap lunch and dinner around on the Clean 9 – but take the second therm tablet at lunch time, as it might give you too much energy if you take it in the evening and won’t be able to sleep.

I guess on the first two days, water would be best – because you are attempting to give the body a break from coffee etc and the term tablet will already give you natural caffeine. So, it is less about the calories (ie milk or no milk) and more about helping us crack our coffee / tea / biscuit / chocolate etc… addictions.

      Hope that helps

    Hi Neil,
Over the last 13 months, I embarked on a diet and exercise regime that has seen me drop about 18kg. I currently get at least 2 days of minimum 10k walks a week, and I play squash for between 40 to 60 mins minimum twice a week (so that is about 4 days of activity).
I’m looking for that ‘extra push’ that could take me to the desired 25kg target.
Exercising is pretty much a part of me now so I firmly expect that to continue over the years.
Would you recommend that I get on the Clean 9 programme? What would be the pros and cons?
    Thank you.

    Reply
    • Neil Lewis Neil Lewis

Hi Yinka – I’d suggest you go straight to the Fit 1 as you are probably burning 500+ calories in exercise 4 days per week.

The Fit 1 will give you the nutrition to support that level of exercise whilst also helping you to eat well and steadily lose the weight.

The Clean 9 isn’t going to give you sufficient nutritional calories to support your exercise, unless we rebuilt the programme to fit.

      Hope that helps

        Hi Neil,

        Thank you for your response.

It appears there are a number of interested people in Nigeria.

I understand the bit about C9 being unable to give sufficient nutritional calories. But that would mean my calorie intake would be far lower than output and equal to quicker weight loss? Just asking.

However, I’m happy to defer to your expert opinion and advice here. I looked up the F1 and I see there’s the possibility of a 15% discount. Is that available for purchases and delivery to Lagos, Nigeria?

Once I get to my target weight, I intend to switch to ‘maintenance’ mode.

        Thank you.

Hi Yinka – yes, there a lot of people interested in the Clean 9 in Nigeria and across the world too.

The key about weight loss is that there is a natural speed limit – that is 500 calories per day less than what you need.

Now, what you need depends on your size, male or female, how much exercise you do etc….

However, the Clean 9 is more a cleanse and detox – a lot of the ‘weight loss’ are toxins and water – so you can only effectively do that once – then moving onto the Fit 1 programme or an adapted version is key to continuing the weight loss over time.

I didn’t cheat and followed the programme to a T.
During the first two days I ate nothing but the aloe Vera gel/shake/fibre drink and the tablets.

For the days 3-9 I also ate nothing In between but one meal at 400cals usually.

I drank plenty of water. More than recommended and I ran 3 times a week and the rest I walked around 4km each day.

I felt incredibly poorly day 3 also, with the shakes and lightheaded.
    Why hasn’t it worked?

Hi Alanna – you shouldn’t run and do the Clean 9 – at least not without carefully adapting it.

So, let’s say you ran 5k – for an average person that would ‘spend’ 500 calories and you only get 600 calories on each of the first two days.

When I work with runners or very fit people, I adapt the programme to fit their schedule – so that would explain the faintness and lightheadedness.

Sorry it didn’t work for you – its a real shame as your distributor really should have given you better advice.

    3) I was using only water to mix the shake in c9 days 1 to 2 so probably was not getting enough calories. I hope it will not affect my program. I have not really lost any weight yet.

Hi Joey – I think most of your questions are solved by following the C9 instruction booklet http://www.fitnw.com/how-to-clean-9-detox-your-questions-answered/#2

In regards to semi skimmed milk – you just need to add to your meal to get back any missing calories.

Also, for men, as the booklet says, you should be eating 800 calorie meals

If you don’t eat enough, then your body will convert muscle to glucose instead of converting fat. Still, for a day or two, it won’t make any difference but it is important to get this sorted before going onto the Fit 1 programme.

Hi Don – get in touch with your distributor and ask their advice. If you *really* don’t like the taste – then it is probably for a reason (ie. you are a smoker, you drink a lot of alcohol or you have a pretty bad diet or just because you have a build up in toxins). So, if it is *really* bad then you need to slow down.

I usually recommend my clients to drink a lot of water and cut out tea, coffee, alcohol and fizzy drinks running up to starting the clean 9 – so I don’t know what you’ve been advised to so – but get back to the person who provided the box and ask their advice – they are paid to provide it. 🙂

Just about to start the C9 and just wondered if you Can you have decafe tea/coffee? As there is no mention of this in the booklets supplied? So I presumed was ok?

    Thanks

Hi Jamie – you *can* have decaf tea / coffee – but you would be better off with a peppermint tea or hot water with a slice of lemon. You are aiming to give your body a rest from all the usual stuff we consume – and decaf coffee is basically coffee with the caffeine striped out – so it is a more highly processed substance than just coffee.

You should find, however, that the term tablets give you all the caffeine (naturally) you need – so you’ll survive!

Hi Woo – there is no reason to worry – talk to your supplier for reassurance, but you’ll be fine without soup or smoothies (unless you are a serious athlete, in which case, you should ditch C9 and go straight to Fit 1).

And why do I have to wait another 20 mins to take the Therm. Thanks

I am in day 3 of C9and my main aim is to lose weight. I wonder is it better to have the protein shake one time only in breakfast (instead of twice ) and then distribute the 600 calories on the lunch and dinner. All the other tablets and gel I am jus taking them as the booklet, but for the morning shake I just feel that I don’t need it.

Also one more thing, what if I ate less than 600 calories; around 400/500, will this affect weight loss also ?

    Thanks

I braught this to specifically loose weight but im on day 6 and havent lost any. Im post pregnant 5months and am desperate to loose my baby weight. Its not easy to concentrate on yourself when you have a baby. My diet before was extremely bad i live on sugar pop and take aways. I have stopped all that now, when i have my 600 meal i have it all bland boiled veg and baked chicken i dont add no salt or spices. So i thaught this would make a big difference. I am also doing my excersize daily. I did have a tiny amount of free food but im going to stop that now. Can you tell me what im doing wrong.

The scientific explanation is very poor! Toxins do not “float” around fat cells! Fat cells take in the toxins and swell – fat cells are our first defence against these toxins and when the toxins are removed (together with water) the fat cells can shrink.
The Clean 9 does not automatically lead to a fat burning state. This takes time – months in fact and requires correct macro intake. The first thing your body does for fuel when in such a calorie restricted state is use the protein in your muscles. Lower muscle mass = low fat burning state.

      Two things
      – you don’t have to like sport to do Fit 1 – you can walk, garden, clean the house, move… – I help my clients adapt their Fit 1 programme
      – repeating the Clean 9 is not a good idea, its purpose is to help set you up for long term weight loss on the Fit 1 programme and repeating it is unlikely to give you great results.

Smokers, especially, find it a tough taste to being with – but it does get better (especially if you are not smoking).

Still, you can add apple and / or cranberry and / or orange juice – just be aware that juices significantly increase your sugar intake – so, use minimally with the fit programme for best results.
